Kindergarteners have been hard at work in the art room learning new skills and processes: from printmaking to painting and stitching! Andy Warhol's "Flowers" print inspired this striking printmaking project. Kindergarteners used a piece of cardboard to print the grass background and made their own stamps out of foam to print their flowers on top. Kindergarteners created a symbol for the season of Spring and then stitched a border around their painted symbol.

Just had to share these scrumptious, Wayne Theibaud-inspired cupcake sculptures my littles at the Mint Museum after-school art club made! They look good enough to eat (but I wouldn't recommend it!)
Faith Ringgold inspired this mixed-media Second grade project. We read her dream-like book, "Tar Beach" and then students came up with an illustration for a story that either really happened to them or that they had dreamt about. Their illustrations show the setting, characters and action in their story. Then they created a fabric border much like the one's Faith Ringgold used on her story quilts.
