I picked up some really great books at our book fair this Fall and was inspired to create some art projects based on the illustrations featured in them. I love the message of Todd Parr's book "It's Okay to Be Different!" and my Kindergarten kids did too! They created this awesome collaborative mural using painted paper collage. Second Grade Donut Printmaking and IllustrationAnother book that inspired us was "Please, Mr. Panda" by Steve Antony. Second graders used pool noodles to make an half dozen donut prints, then glazed and frosted using tempera and puffy paint. They had so much fun! Then to create contrast with their colorful donuts they illustrated a black and white animal to offer you some donuts, just like in the story...just remember to say "please!"
